Turin—2 June 2014
Nurun is pleased to announce its partnership with Arduino, an Italian company known for its open-source electronics prototyping platform. The partnership will support Nurun’s commitment to research and development, particularly in regard to connected objects.
To commemorate the partnership, a workshop, Learn. Build. Innovate. Prototyping the Internet of Things, has been organized at Fab Lab Torino on Thursday, June 12, and will be attended by several of Nurun’s clients from around the world. Alongside experts from Nurun and Arduino, guests will participate in the design and development of prototypes, including a connected lamp that delivers real-time traffic updates.
“Working on the physical object lets us take the entire service lifecycle of the product into consideration, from website to backend architecture to physical hardware, and allows us to more fully explore that experience,” said David Bliss, Executive Director of Technical R&D at Nurun’s San Francisco office, who will be one of the workshop facilitators and presenters. “This workshop will be an excellent opportunity to reflect on concrete problems and develop innovative connected solutions.”
Connected objects that comprise the Internet of Things are quickly becoming key components within digital ecosystems. Bringing together human, business, and technological insights to create high-value digital products and services, Nurun foresees the integration of the Internet of Things as an important innovation-driver for its client partners.
Arduino, the first widespread Open Source Hardware platform, was launched in 2005 to simplify the process of electronic prototyping. It enables everyday people with little or no technical background to build interactive products. The Arduino ecosystem is a combination of three different elements, including a small electronic board that makes it easy and affordable to learn to program a microcontroller, a free software application used to program the board, and a vibrant community. Every day on the www.arduino.cc website thousands of people connect with other users, ask for help, engage and contribute to the project.
