Nurun and Walmart Canada Win Excellence in Retailing Award at 2014 STORE Conference

Excellence in Retailing Awards Retail Council of Canada honors excellence and innovation at STORE Conference.

Retail Council of Canada (RCC) has awarded Nurun and Walmart Canada as best Large-Size Retailer—e-Commerce for the new at the 2014 Excellence in Retailing Awards. The RCC awards recognize the Canadian retail industry’s top achievers in a variety of categories, and were presented on June 3, as part of STORE 2014—Canada’s Largest Retail Conference.

This year’s award submissions came from a wide range of retailers, and highlighted new and creative innovations in areas ranging from Technology to Corporate Social Responsibility to Marketing & Communications.

The new, which launched October 4, 2013, is the first responsively designed enterprise e-commerce website created for a large Canadian retailer. Launched in partnership with Walmart Canada’s eCommerce team, Walmart’s Global eCommerce team, and Nurun, the new provides a significantly improved and unified shopping experience across all connected devices, including desktop, smartphones and tablets.

The new establishes a cross-channel foundation that will facilitate future site growth and increased brand visibility for Walmart Canada. A truly collaborative effort between agency and client, the site features a unified, single-screen checkout, a 98%-plus increase in mobile orders, and garnered a three-point increase in customer satisfaction rating, according to Foresee. Using an agile methodology, the new was conceived, designed, developed and brought to market in less than 12 months. was also recognized as Large-Size Retailer—e-Commerce, for its  “Try Before You Buy” campaign.
